Melanie Troxel's Turbo Debut

melanie-5772

The NHRA Supernationals at Old Bridge Township Raceway Park in Englishtown, New Jersey, offered outstanding racing conditions and the most competitive Pro Mod field we've seen all year. The R2B2 racing team was in full effect and put up some of the most impressive numbers ever!

In her first outing as the driver of "The Silver Bullet" (ProCareRX '53 Corvette powered by a Pro Line Racing 481X and Precision turbos), Melanie Troxel set out to shock the world. During qualifying, Melanie's 1st run was a 5.808 @ 257.33, which broke her teammate, Raymond Commisso's, record which stood at 5.81! She backed it up in her 2nd qualifying run with a 5.800 @ 258.71! In her final qualifying pass, Steve Petty made some adjustments and the results were tremendous. She went 5.772 @ 258.37mph, once again stamping her name into the history books!

Unfortunately, Melanie's record setting weekend was cut short due to a holeshot loss to Dennis Radford in the first round. On an extremely positive note, Melanie achieved a world record and backed it up twice in her first race driving a turbo car. We are overjoyed with her performance and can't wait to see what she and the rest of the R2B2 Racing crew will accomplish in the future!
