BENSON, NC. (March 2026) – Peter Norton continued his recent hot streak by picking up the Pro Modified victory at the IHRA Season Opener at Darana Motorsports Park (GALOT), adding another major accomplishment to an already impressive start to the year.
Coming off a strong winter series, Norton carried that momentum straight into competition, putting together a consistent and determined performance against a stacked field of Pro Mod contenders.
Qualifying sixth, Norton entered race day with work to do, but quickly proved he had a car capable of going rounds. He turned on win lights against Craig Sullivan, Randy Weatherford, and John Doc to earn a spot in the final round.
In the final, Norton faced off with No. 1 qualifier Jason Harris, setting up a matchup between two of the strongest cars of the weekend.
With both drivers looking to capitalize on a strong start to the season, Norton delivered when it mattered most, putting together the winning run to secure the IHRA Season Opener title.
The victory adds to what has already been an impressive stretch for Norton, further establishing him as a serious contender early in the season.
Winning an event of this caliber against a deep field not only boosts confidence, but also sets the tone moving forward as the IHRA schedule unfolds.

Paul Gargus and Scott Tidwell Racing earned another Pro Mod win at DragCoverage’s Night of Fire at Alabama International Dragway. Gargus qualified No. 1 with a 3.602 at 207.94 MPH before defeating No. 7 qualifier Michael Neal in the final.
Ned Dunphy earned his first career PDRA Pro Boost victory at the Thunder Valley Throwdown at Bristol Dragway, using consistent passes and strong reaction times to race his way into the winner’s circle.
