Dunn, NC (APRIL 7th, 2019) – Following an exciting season opener of the Professional Drag Racers Association (PDRA Racing) event at GALOT Motorsports Park, PLR Hemi powered race cars continued to prove their value as Galot Motorsports driver, Kevin Rivenbark, took home the win in the Pro Boost category for team owner Earl Wells in the ProCharged 69 Camaro.
This was Rivenbark’s second win overall at Galot Motorsports Park but what was so impressive is that it followed on from his win only two weeks ago on radial tires. Rivenbark took home the $101,000 win at the Duck X Productions Sweet 16 2.0 event and scored the title of the first to the sought-after .50’s, recording a 3.587 and 206.67 mph!!
Rivenbark qualified at PDRA in No.1 position and posted the quickest ET of the event. The Steve Petty-tuned Camaro defeated the current world champion Tommy D’Aprile in the final round with a 3.688 second pass at 203.37 mph.
Meanwhile, Rivenbark’s teammate and fellow PLR Procharged stalwart, John Strickland, qualified in No.3 position in his first PDRA event with this combination. He got a round one win against the PLR Turbocharged Camaro of Roderjan Busato who qualified in No. 14 position but red lit with -.001 in the second round to eventual finals contestant Tommy D’Aprile.
The only ‘non-Camaro’ PLR-powered entry of Kris Thorne qualified in No. 5 spot and delivered an impressive time of 3.691 in round one getting around Ric Fleck. Unfortunately, Kris also suffered a red light in round 2 (the same as John Strickland) with a -.001, letting off the gas to run through with 4.138 second time.
