Eric Dillard and Paul Gargus Split Win at MWDRS Northern Nationals

The Mid-West Drag Racing Series Northern Nationals at US 131 Motorsports Park packed an entire race weekend into one day on July 31, and despite Mother Nature having the final say, it was still a memorable weekend for Proline Racing customers.

With rain expected on Saturday, MWDRS condensed the event into a Friday-only schedule and kept the action moving all day. Just before the Pro Mod final could take place, rain rolled back into the area, forcing officials to call the event and declare Eric Dillard and Paul Gargus co-winners.

Dillard was filling in behind the wheel of Jose Gonzalez's EGR '69 Camaro, while Gargus represented Scott Tidwell Racing. Both drivers put together consistent runs throughout eliminations to earn their spot in the final round before weather brought the day to an early close.

The pair also started the event with strong qualifying efforts. Dillard qualified No. 5 with a 3.603 at 208.53 MPH, while Gargus qualified No. 7 with a 3.605 at 206.99 MPH, setting the stage for deep runs on race day.

The weekend was another strong showing for Proline Racing as a whole. Thirteen of the 26 Pro Mod entries were Proline Racing customers, and by the time the semifinal round rolled around, every remaining driver was powered by Proline Racing.

The semifinal matchups featured:

  • Eric Dillard vs. Peter Norton
  • Paul Gargus vs. Johnny Camp

Having all four semifinalists powered by Proline Racing speaks to the depth and consistency of the combinations competing throughout the season.

Although rain prevented the final round from being completed, it couldn't take away from a successful weekend. Gargus leaves Michigan with the MWDRS Pro Mod points lead, while Dillard adds another strong performance behind the wheel in his fill-in role for the EGR team.

Congratulations to Eric Dillard, Paul Gargus, and all of the Proline Racing customers who represented the brand throughout the weekend.
