Ned Dunphy Earns First Career PDRA Win at Thunder Valley Throwdown

Ned Dunphy and his team had a weekend to remember at the PDRA Thunder Valley Throwdown at Bristol Dragway, picking up Dunphy’s first career PDRA Pro Boost win.

Dunphy qualified No. 6 with a 3.650 before putting together a strong and consistent run through eliminations. He started race day with a 3.641 at 206.51 MPH to defeat Raymond Matos in the opening round.

In round two, Dunphy faced fellow Proline Racing customer Paul Gargus and was nearly impossible to beat at the starting line. He cut a perfect .000 reaction time and ran a 3.636 at 206.26 MPH, earning the holeshot win over Gargus’ quicker 3.625.

Dunphy ran another 3.636 in the semifinals against Fletcher Cox, advancing to the final after Cox went red.

That set up a final-round matchup with Lyle Barnett. Dunphy once again got the job done on the tree with a .013 reaction time, running a 3.632 at 207.08 MPH to Barnett’s quicker 3.627 at 208.42 MPH. The starting-line advantage was enough to give Dunphy the holeshot victory and his first PDRA event win.

After the race, Dunphy made sure to recognize the team behind the win, including crew chief Jey Clegg, tuner Robbie Kellerhals, Chad McGregor, Ryan Rakestraw and the RK Racecraft team, Jon Homier of Homier Fabrications, along with Steve Petty, Doug Patton and Eric Dillard of Proline Racing.

It was a great weekend of consistent runs, strong driving and teamwork that ended with a well-earned trip to the winner’s circle.

Congratulations to Ned and his entire team on their first PDRA win!
